Roster Move: Bears land free agent LB Morrow

New Bears LB Nicholas Morrow

The Bears agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent linebacker Nicholas Morrow on a one-year contract.

Morrow, 26, spent his first five NFL seasons with the Raiders, originally signing in 2017 as an undrafted free agent from Greenville University, which is located in southern Illinois about 50 miles east of St. Louis.

"In Nicholas we are getting a linebacker who plays the game fast and he is instinctive and intelligent," said general manager Ryan Poles. "He attacks the game with an edge and a mindset to be great. It is going to be exciting to see him come in and improve our defense with that mentality. We would like to thank Brian Hamilton with Plan B Sports for helping bring him to Chicago.

Morrow appeared in 62 games with 29 starts from 2017-20, compiling 254 tackles, 20 tackles-for-loss, 4.0 sacks, two interceptions, 20 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

The 6-foot, 225-pounder returns after missing all of last season with an ankle injury. Hurt in a joint training camp workout with the Rams, he returned to practice prior to the Raiders' wild-card loss to the Bengals but did not play in the game.

In 2019, the Alabama native registered his first career interception in a win over the Bears in London, picking off Chase Daniel.

In 2020, Morrow established career highs with 11 starts, 78 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, 3.0 sacks and eight pass breakups.

New Bears LB Nicholas Morrow has recorded 254 tackles, 4.0 sacks and 20 tackles-for-loss in 62 career games, all with the Raiders. Take a look at the veteran in action.
